Everything You Need to Know About Vertical Printing

We’re not limited to printing on drywall! Our technology allows us to print on a wide variety of surfaces, including:

  • Concrete
  • Glass
  • Brick
  • Metal
  • Canvas

And that’s just the beginning! We’re constantly exploring and experimenting with new surface types to expand our capabilities.

We can typically work around most obstacles on a wall. Before we arrive, we kindly ask that you remove any outlet or light switch covers. For larger or non-removable obstacles, we can often adapt the design to seamlessly integrate them into your wall art, ensuring you get the stunning results you’re looking for. Each situation is unique, and we’re here to find the best solution for your space!

Due to the design of our printer and the offset of the robotic wheels and track from the print head, we’re unable to print edge-to-edge or guarantee full coverage of a wall surface. For true edge-to-edge printing, traditional vinyl or wallpaper would be a better option.

However, our printer offers unique capabilities that vinyl and wallpaper can’t match, such as printing intricate designs and adding drop shadows or gradient fills directly onto the surface. Many of our clients find that the advantages of wall printing far outweigh the need for edge-to-edge coverage. We focus on maximizing the potential of our printer to create stunning, customized designs that truly stand out.

Since our printer runs on tracks, we can print as wide as needed for the image. The height is usually limited to 13–15 feet, depending on the surface and available space. If there are obstacles like lights or ceiling fixtures, we’ll need to account for those when planning the print.

Printing on a white or light-colored wall is the simplest and most straightforward for us, just like a home printer.

For dark-colored walls, we offer a “White Ink” feature for an additional cost. This applies a layer of white ink to the wall first, ensuring the colors of your design really pop. While this doesn’t add time to the printing process, it does increase the ink coverage.

The UV ink cures on the surface of the wall (or any other object we print on), creating a durable, hard finish. You can clean the print using wet wipes, isopropyl alcohol, Simple Green, soap and water, sprays, or other industrial cleaning products directly on the surface without damaging the print.

Yes! Our prints are highly damage-resistant. Unlike vinyl, which is a plastic layer adhered to the wall and can peel away from nicks, cuts, or dents, our special UV ink is cured directly onto the wall’s surface. Any damage to the wall won’t affect the quality of the print, and there’s no peeling, warping, or bubbling.

While our wall printing process doesn’t prevent damage to the wall itself, significant damage to the surface will transfer to the print. However, this won’t compromise the integrity of the rest of the printed image.
